Film Guest Speaker: Paul Cohen

We students at Flagler College are often very fortunate to have guest speakers come inform the student body of opportunities and give perspective and advice. This Fall the Communication Department hosted some influential speakers in the film industry. Unfortunately, I was only able to attend one speaker, but I was a bit biased about him being here so it worked out for me! Paul Cohen is from the FSU Film Graduate program known as Torchlight, today he shared the work of some students and gave advice to those looking to attend graduate school.

Thanks to our faculty for setting up this film week and thank you to all of the speakers that participated!

"Give up your Rights" Demonstration

Today at Flagler College there was a demonstration put on by the campus chapter of SPJ. The good news: free lunch, the bad: no 1st amendment rights! Demonstrators bossed kids around, yelled at them and even threw some poor souls in 'jail'. All in all, looked like another great Com. Dept. event!!!!!! (so what if I'm biased)I think the boots really portray his status!
It actually took me awhile to find the jail...to think, I didn't notice the sign.
Prof. Eaton doing what he does best, photojournalism!!!
Here's a nice overview shot of the event. I heard the lunch was worth it!
There was a jail break!!!!!! Get 'em!

SPJ students had stories to tell, there was a real reason for this demonstration. Pretty intense when you think about it all.
Great job SPJ!!

Greek Fest 2009

Here are some random shots from the festival this year:

Environment Portrait (I hope)

The "chefs" of this years Greek Festival in St. Augustine, they set up shop and did what they do best....feed people.Marinating the lamb on the spit.

Brothers Chris and Theo prep for the festival. These co-owners of CT's Snack Shack closed their own business to help for the weekend. The festival became their temporary work environment.

An unknown bug left his previous environment on a canvas that sits on the porch of my house.
